4 Ways to Add Colour and Cheer to Your Home This Winter

Winter in Canada can feel like it lasts forever – especially as it drags on with no end to the grey days in sight. After Christmas, many people either take down or don’t turn their Christmas lights on anymore and those cheerful bursts of colour go away.

So how can you add some colour to the exterior of your home this winter? We’ve got a few ideas to help.

1. Paint Your Front Door.

You can’t do this when it’s too cold for the paint to set but if there is a midwinter thaw, you can paint the whole door, or just the trim in a colour that pops.

2. Attract Colourful Birds.

Hanging a bird feeder in your front yard will help bring lots of colour to your home. From blue jays to cardinals to finches, there are lots of colourful birds just waiting for some free food to be put out for them!

3. Use Seasonal Greenery.

Wreaths aren’t just for Christmas – you can repurpose your wreath with some hearts and make it a Valentine’s Day wreath. Or put some red and pink accents in an evergreen arrangement on your porch. Even just leaving the greenery without any extra embellishments adds colour to your home, but why not add a little something extra?

4. Use Your Gemstone Lights.

Your outdoor LED smart lights can keep adding colour to your home after the holiday season is done. It’s up to you whether you pick a more subtle colour palette or go all out and have a multicoloured light extravaganza with a different animation running every night. With over 100,000,000 different colour options per bulb you can change your colour scheme every night and not come close to running out of colours to try! Make your house that cheers up everyone on the block when they see the colours and patterns.

Winter snow hides the gardens that often help give homes colour and personality, leaving homeowners searching for alternative methods of adding a bit of brightness to the outside of their house. Painting your door, attracting colourful birds, adding seasonal greenery, and using colourful outdoor LED lighting are all ways of adding colour to winter.  mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
